428 S Dawson St, Raleigh, NC 27601
On the hunt for the best veggies burger in Raleigh, I have experienced multiple spots. And although the hunt isn’t over, The Berkeley Cafe will be very hard to beat. It sets a high bar.
Located on a busy Dawson street, it is easy to miss spot. The cafe offers straightforward menu with basic food options that do not disappoint. They also have a full bar and occasional live music featuring local artists.
Unfortunately, there is no outdoor seating or dedicated parking. With that said parking is no problem if you’re okay with a 5-minute walk. The Berkeley Cafe is one of the very few places we’ve found that serve food after 8 pm in Raleigh. They’re open until 11 pm every weeknight, 12 am on Saturdays, and 10 pm on Sundays.
If you want a good veggie burger, give Berkeley Cafe a try. They make a hearty crave-able bean based patty that you can sub any of their burgers with. My personal favorite is subbing the veggie patty into the El Gordo, which is topped with Monterey jack cheese, pickled jalapenos, avocado (and they don’t skimp on the avocado), shaved red onions, romaine lettuce, tomato, and siracha aioli.
They do also offer other vegetarian items but their veggie burgers are so good I haven’t tried them (yet).
If you’re vegan/vegetarian and are looking for a relaxed spot with comfort food, you must absolutely give The Berkeley Cafe a try.
